What is a 3D scan?
CBCT (Cone Beam Computer Tomography) is a digital x-ray scanner specifically designed for scanning the head and jaws. The x-ray is a low energy fixed anode tube which reduces radiation scatter common to most conventional x-rays. The cone shaped x-ray provides 360 degree views that can be represented in 2D image and 3D volume for advanced planning and diagnostic support.
What is an i-Cat?
At ClearScan Imaging we utilize the i-Cat scaner by Imaging Sciences to acquire our 3D images. The i-Cat rotates 360 degress around the patients head in 20 seconds or less and obtains the entire skull volume.
Why do I need a CBCT scan?
~ The i-Cat's Cone Beam 3D Dental Imaging System provides high-definition, digital imaging at a reduced cost with less radiation to the patient.
~ The i-Cat scan is fast, comfortable and painless for patients. The scan is taken in an open upright chair. A typical scan time is between 10 to 20 seconds.
~ The immediate three-dimensional reconstruction of a patient's mouth, face and jaw areas enhances doctor/patient communication by allowing doctors to share a visual diagnosis with their patients.
~ Our images clearly display TMJ disorders, impacted teeth, implant site assesment, critical bone and tooth relationships, oral-nasal airways, para-nasal sinus, mandibular canal and difficult to see pathologies.
~ The i-Cat computer controlled software delivers quick and easy reconstruction that is true to size and distortion free. This allows your doctor the information needed to evaluate and plan your treatment.
All 3D Data can be sent to out oral & maxillofacial radiologist at the time of the appointment or a later date. ClearScan will send the data electronically to the radiologist and will receive the written report by email in approximately 5-7 days.
